Dare Ale - All Grain Recipe Kit
Dark Ales are malty with light to moderate roasty notes and quite a strong hop note.
Expected Brew Figures: (Based on 80% mash efficiency):
OG: 1.050
FG: 1.013
IBU: 30
ABV: Approx 4.9%
Volume: 23 L
Ingredients:
4.0kg of Pale malt
650g of Caraamber malt
200g of Roasted Barley malt
50g of Carafa Type 1 malt
22g of Magnum hops
22g of US Willamette hops
Yeast Selection:
2 x M/J M15 Empire Ale Yeast
Method:
1. Mash @ 68ºC with 16L of water
2. Rest 60 mins & recirculate
3. Raise temp for mash out @76 ºC initially, sparge with 14L of water @ 80ºC
4. Boil 60 mins
5. Add 22g of Magnum at 55 mins
6. Add 22g of Willamette hops at 5 mins
7. Whirlpool 20 mins (Whirlpooling: turn the boil off and either stirring fast/recirculate so it "whirlpools" for the duration)
8. Ferment at 18-22º for 7-10 days with 2 x M15 yeast
9. Then bottle or keg as usual
