English Brown Ale (Dried) - All Grain Recipe Kit

A good subtle English Brown Ale, Perfect for those casual winter nights where something a little bit heavier is needed. With subtle woodsy, pine and farm like hop flavours and aromas, complimented by a good smoked malt base with complex caramel notes, this is definitely an ale to try during your brewing career.

ABV: Approx 4.5%
Volume: 23 L

Ingredients:
3.5kg of Pale Ale malt
800g of Caraamber malt
650g of Caramunich Type 2 malt
450g of Smoked malt.
100g of Carafa Type 3 malt
10g of Fuggle hops
17g of Fuggle hops
20g of Fuggle hops

Yeast Selection:
1 x of Mangrove Jacks M36 Liberty Bell Ale Yeast

Method:
1. Mash in with 17L water at @66ºC
2. Rest and recirculate for 60 mins, or until conversion is complete
3. Raise mash temp to 78ºC for mash out, hold temp for 5 -10 mins
4. Sparge with 13L of water @ 80ºC
5. Boil for 60 mins 
6. At 55 min add 10g Fuggle hops
7. At 5 min add 17g Fuggle hops
8. At 0 mins (Turn off the boil)
9. Rest till temperature is 95ºC then add 20g Fuggle hops and Whirlpool for 20 mins (Whirlpooling: turn the boil off and either stirring fast/recirculate so it "whirlpools" for the duration. The helps raise the bitterness too)
10. Chill and transfer to fermenter
11. Ferment at 18-22ºC for 7-10 days with 1 x M36 yeast
12. Bottle of keg as usual
